Case studies

The point of having case studies is so people can see the sorts of challenges business skills training and coaching can help with.

Case study 1 - Jim builds his firm into a business development powerhouse

Jim was a partner is a small regional firm and employed around 15 people. He always brought in the work through his connections at the golf club and he did a bit of networking. Work pressures meant that Jim was unable to fulfill his rainmaker role and the work dried up. People in the firm were unable to hit targets and Jim feared his firm would close down.  What did Jim do?

He arranged some training and coaching in the specific areas of business developing and networking. We worked with Jim to get everyone in his firm lrecruiting new work and we helped Jim come up with a structured plan to maximise his firm's news business.

Case study 2 - Mary find coaching a success

Mary was an experienced lawyer in a large practice who was unable to make partner. She had the technical ability, no one doubted that. We worked with Mary and established with ther that she thought the reasons she was not making partner was that she was not seen in the firm as someone who brought work in. When Mary asked her partner if this was the case she was told it was.

We worked with Mary to build up her confidence in the areas of networking and selling, helping her develop her own unique selling point and she was able to understand why people bought from her firm. Through some coaching sessions she was able to bring in some work and she created a plan that she felt confident would help her become a partner.

Case study 3 - Elaine demonstrates ROI to her partners

A lot of law firms do not see the usefulness of business skills training and try to avoid doing it at all. Elaine, a training manager in a medium sized firm was experiencing such a challenge. She would continually put on training courses only for them to be cancelled due to lack of numbers. We worked with Elaine to help her put together a ROI analysis that she could show to her partners the would demonstrate the benefits of implementing a business skills training programme.

Case study 4 - Ralph makes his brochures have more impact

Ralph wanted to make his brochures appeal to the clients he wanted in the firm. His brochures were generic, containing information about the firm and did not contain any language that would entice a buyer to come to his firm.

We worked with Ralph to help him understand the reasons potential clients might buy from his firm. We worked with him to create client profiles and then helped him tailor his literature accordingly. The feedback he received meant that he refreshed all his advertising in this way.
